Titan #16: HESTIA

fb-hestia-3x5History:In Greek Mythology, Hestia was the goddess of the hearth, family, and domestic life. She was not worshipped publicly, which is evident by the lack of temples and shrines attributed to her. Her name meant both a house and a hearth, symbolizing the home and its residents. She also represented the unification of the outlying city states. She was the glue that held it all together. Although she was Zeus' sister, she was replaced by Dionysus, making her the “Lost Titan”. Her passive, non-confrontational nature – by allegedly giving her Olympian seat to Dionysus prevented heavenly conflict. Hestia was known for her kindness, She is identified with the hearth as a physical object, and the abstractions of community and domesticity. Hestia's Strengths: Constant, calm, gentle, and supportive of the family and home. Her Weaknesses: Cool emotionally, a little too calm, but could defend herself when necessary.
